Has Amsterdam had enough of its breezy reputation? It may be famous for its in-your-face window prostitution, but the city has just voted to place tighter controls on its brothels.

  A few months ago, we asked, “is China an economic miracle or one giant government sponsored fraud?” Our views were the latter with corruption as one of the key driving forces for wealth creation and economic growth in China.   Consider the following:  

Do you take diet or nutritional supplements? It could be as simple as popping an everyday vitamin pill from the many choices at the supermarket. Or perhaps you frequent one of those high-end stores where they have the super-duper top-shelf nutritional and homeopathic remedies. If you take these kinds of supplements, there are a couple of things that I’m sure you know. You won’t cure what ails you by just taking one pill once. And you could do yourself harm by swallowing an entire bottle of some otherwise “healthy” elixir.

A man and a women start their careers in the same role, at the same company on the same day. They are promoted at the same time, achieve the same level of seniority and retire at identical moments. How much more did the man earn? The answer, at least according to a poll of 38,843 executives conducted by the Chartered Management Institute late last year, is £423,390. The higher up the ladder you climb, the bigger the pay differential too, with female directors earning an average salary of £127,257, £14,689 less than males in equivalent roles.
