NEW YORK (Reuters) - Tribune Co, the U.S. newspaper publisher and broadcaster trying to pay off billions of dollars in debt, reported a loss from continuing operations and a 10 percent revenue drop on Monday as advertising sales fell.
Time Warner Cable Inc. (TWC) reported its fourth quarter earnings for fiscal 2013 (4QFY13) today just before markets opened. The company said net income grew 5.3% in 4QFY13 over the earlier-year quarter to $540 million, while revenues increased 2% to $5.58 billion, beating analyst expectations of $5.56 billion.
Earnings per share came to $1.83, a 9% rise from 4QFY12 and above expectations of $1.73 a share. The company announced a 15% increase in quarterly dividends, taking them to $0.75 per share.
Charter Communications, Inc. (CHTR) reported earnings results for the first quarter of its fiscal 2014 (1QFY14) today, just before the markets opened. The cable operator said its quarterly performance benefited from a seasonal strength, with revenues coming in ahead of consensus estimates, while earnings missed analysts’ projections.
