Female artists lead Brit Award nominees

The Billboard Music Awards nominations are out.   Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Rihanna, Adele, and fun. lead the pack as finalists.

Rock groups Kasabian and Muse were the kings of a major British music awards ceremony, while US superstar Lady Gaga's outlandish outfits were praised and attacked in equal measure.There was disappointment for recently split rockers Oasis at the London event staged by leading British music magazine NME Wednesday, however, who failed to pick up a single gong despite receiving three nominations.Rockers Kasabian scooped best album and best album artwork awards for "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum".

Flamboyant US superstar Lady Gaga scooped three awards Tuesday at the 30th anniversary edition of Britain's top music awards the Brits, and dedicated the night to late fashion designer Alexander McQueen.The eccentric New Yorker was awarded all three prizes she was nominated for, including best international female solo artist and international breakthrough act.Sporting a lace outfit with a huge white wig and mask at the London ceremony, she also picked up the award for best international album for "The Fame."

Beyonce topped the list of nominees for the 52nd Grammy Awards, leading the way with 10 nods ahead of teenage country star Taylor Swift with eight.R&B superstar Beyonce scooped nominations in the coveted record of the year and album of the year categories, for her single "Halo" and her chart-topping double-album "I Am ... Sasha Fierce." The former "Destiny's Child" singer also picked up a nod in the song of the year category.
