Vick draws boos in NFL return to Atlanta

Eagles backup quarterback Michael Vick said he had "nothing to do" with a shooting outside a restaurant after a birthday party in his honor there last week.Vick, a onetime NFL superstar whose reputation took a plunge when he was convicted and imprisoned for his role in a dogfighting ring, reiterated his statement that he had left the club in Virginia Beach, Virginia, some time before the shooting and continued to cooperate with authorities investigating the incident.

Everyone assumed that the Eagles would cut Michael Vick this winter to avoid paying his $15 million salary next season.

Personal note: I grew up in Philly, and the last time the Eagles had a coach not named "Andy Reid," I was ten years old. So I'm familiar with the Andy Reid Experience. And the beginning of today's Eagles-Giants game — which will almost certainly be the last game of Reid's tenure — involved a lot of the things that have defined this era of Eagles football, for better or worse. Philly started the game with a surprise onside kick on the opening kickoff. It's something Reid has done a bunch of times in the past, to varying degrees of success.

We're two months from the NFL Draft, and it's becoming clear that this is a bad draft for quarterbacks. A year after can't-miss QBs Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III when 1st and 2nd overall, respectively, there isn't a single quarterback that NFL experts can seem to get behind in unison.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Michael Vick have worked out a new contract that will keep Vick in Philly for 2013, the team just announced.
