    Graham Summers submits:
A lot of pundits have recently been commenting that short-term T-bills are a safe haven for investors. The idea behind this claim is that the US has a printing press and can always insure the return OF capital though with interest rates at 0%, T-bills currently offer no return ON your capital. • Weekly Market Forecast: Risk Back On Edition

Graham Summers submits: Last week’s rally occurred for one reason and one reason only: options expiration week. I’ve detailed this phenomenon countless times, but the primary point is that EVERY month, Wall Street shreds options traders by pushing the market this way and that to insure the maximum number of options contracts expire worthless.

    • You wouldn't like Lindsey Graham when he's angry

If the policy inside the Kerry-Lieberman-Graham climate change bill seem to have finally come together, it looks like the politics are about to come apart.

    • Weekly Market Forecast, Risk Off Edition

Graham Summers submits: The financial world is beginning to break down in a big way today. In the currency markets, the second Greek bailout is turning out to be precisely the dud I said it would. After all, it was only one year ago that Greece received its first bailout. Having now asked for extensions on returning those funds AND a second bailout, it’s bizarre that anyone would think giving more money to Greece would fix its problems.

    • Dividend Investing in a Low Interest Rate Environment

Dividend Growth Investor submits:Yields on fixed income instruments have been in a decline over the past 30 years. While yields on long term obligations were in the mid to high teens in the early 1980’s due to higher inflation, they have come down quite a bit in the early 2010’s to some of the lowest levels in US history. As a result, certain cash deposits such as Certificates of Deposits or Treasury Bills yield less than half a percent.

    • Bernanke Sees Little Risk of U.S. Inflation - Oh, Really?

Graham Summers submits: Obama, Please Earmark $200 in the Budget for “Fed Research” so Bernanke Can Get a StockCharts Account Growing up, I always assumed that people in a position of power or authority got there based on merit. It never crossed my mind that someone might actually be in charge of something VERY important like, say, the monetary system, and NOT know what he or she was doing.
