By Kevin Quon:The age of abundant oil is rapidly coming to an end. As companies like Transocean (RIG) and SeaDrill (SDRL) explore the vast oil reserves of the ocean deep, there are two principles being established: One, we need an alternative to oil, and two, we haven't found it yet. However, there are options that are becoming more increasingly viable. Take, for instance, natural gas and biofuels. Seen as the most practical clean fuel alternatives to oil, the two fields are often compared against each other in conversation when it comes to finding the next oil replacement. The natural gas industry has fundamentally changed in a sustainable way here in America. Through the introduction of hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling, an abundance of supply has allowed for a lasting cheap energy source. Now that we've been given the ability to tap into shale rock formations, technology has revealed stockpiles of easily accessibleComplete Story »

By Kevin Quon:Natural gas prices continue to tread just above historic lows with the June futures contract showing a price of $2.711/mmBtu as of May 21, 2012. With the introduction of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing on the shale rock formations, technology has unlocked an abundance of previously unknown natural gas reserves that is sure to keep commodity prices low for an extended period of time. Cheap natural gas unleashed from previously unreachable shale sources could eventually provide a boost to U.S. steel manufacturers, but the benefits have not shown up in their bottom lines just yet.

    • Dividends Galore: A 1970′s Solution For Cheap Crude

Do you remember the 1970’s? Sure, it was the era of questionable sartorial choices. Men wore very unnatural colors, showing up on dance floors as they tried to boogie until they couldn’t boogie no more. In an energy sense, though, it was also the time of the dreaded mile-long gas lines. Oil was in short supply at gasoline stations around the nation. It was an era of conflict. The nations that produced much of what the US consumed were none to happy with us and cut the nation off from their petrol spigots.

    • A Look At The Energy Of The Future: Natural Gas

America’s natural gas industry can make you rich. If you’ve been sleeping under a rock for the past few years or you’ve thrown your DRH missives to the wayside, allow me to reiterate this important thesis. Natural gas and associated “wet” byproducts like propane, butane and ethane, are flowing rapidly from America’s shale formations. It’s a bonanza of cheap energy! It’s also set to make a few industries insanely profitable…

    • The Compelling Investment Case For Deep-Water Drilling

By Brian L. Wilson:Some of the most profitable oil drilling in recent years has come from deep water drilling. As you might imagine, these deep water drilling operations involve companies sending well-equipped fleets into the ocean. They proceed to drill through the ocean floor to tap some of the richest oil reserves left on the planet. Since oil companies have been exploring land for so many decades, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find oil reservoirs that are worth the effort of extraction.
