US Air Force calls drone fleet virus a 'nuisance'

An unmanned combat aircraft has been built for the British military is to undergo its first ever test flight later this year. It can fly faster than the speed of sound, cannot be detected by radar and has no pilot. This is the new robotic plane that will become the next generation of front line bombers for the British military.

A computer virus that affected the US military's drone fleet last month was not "specifically" aimed at the unmanned aircraft's network, the head of US Strategic Command said Tuesday."It was a virus that we believe at this point entered from the wild, if you will, not specifically targeted at the RPA (remotely piloted aircraft) activities but entered through some other process," General Robert Kehler told reporters."We're not quite sure how that happened yet," he said.

ATLANTIC OCEAN – The Navy for the first time Tuesday launched an unmanned aircraft the size of a fighter jet from a warship in the Atlantic Ocean. This comes as it wades deeper into America’s drone program amid growing concerns over the legality of its escalating surveillance and lethal strikes.

The FBI said it’s investigating an unmanned aircraft spotted by a pilot on an arriving flight yesterday near John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating the craft, which came within 60 meters of an Alitalia SpA flight, said John Giacalone, special agent in charge of counterterrorism for the FBI’s New York office. The craft was described as no more than three feet wide with four propellers, according to the FBI.

The computer security industry buzzed Thursday with warnings that more than a half-million Macintosh computers may have been infected with a virus targeting Apple machines.Flashback Trojan malware tailored to slip past "Mac" defenses is a variation on viruses typically aimed at personal computers (PCs) powered by Microsoft's Windows operating systems.The infections, spotted "in the wild" by Finland-based computer security firm F-Secure and then quantified by Russian anti-virus program vendor Dr. Web, come as hackers increasingly take aim at Apple computers.

According to a statement by Pentagon Press Secretary George Little, on Mar. 12, an IRIAF (Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force) combat plane attempted to intercept a U.S. MQ-1 drone flying in international airspace.

Iran’s developing ability to launch cyber attacks will make it “a force to be reckoned with,” the head of the U.S. Air Force Space Command said. General William Shelton said the Iranians are responding to an attack on the computer operating system that runs the uranium enrichment facilities in the country’s suspected nuclear-weapons program.
