    Tribune bankruptcy judge to write opinion on restructuring plan

    U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Kevin Carey says he hopes to have an opinion ready by early July, when he is likely to either approve Tribune's restructuring plan or provide a road map on how to fix it.WILMINGTON, Del. — The judge in Tribune Co.'s bankruptcy case said he planned to write a formal opinion on the company's restructuring plan and hoped to have something ready by early July.

      A US judge has tentatively approved the reorganization plan of Tribune Co., allowing the owner of the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times and other newspapers, to emerge from bankruptcy.US bankruptcy judge Kevin Carey said in an opinion Friday that the final plan is still "subject to submission of final revisions," after which he would confirm the plan.The plan would allow a group of hedge funds and banks based in Los Angeles and New York to take over the media company, which filed for bankruptcy protection in December 2008.
