    Sudan's genocide-accused President Bashir in Kenya

    Sudan's genocide-accused President Omar al-Bashir was Friday in Kenya, has ratified the Rome Statute requiring cooperation with the International Criminal Court, an AFP journalist reported.The veteran Sudanese leader, wanted by The Hague-based court for alleged war crimes and genocide in the western Sudanese region of Darfur, was in Nairobi to attend the promulgation of Kenya's new constitution.Bashir, whose name was not on the list of heads of state expected to attend issued by the Kenyan foreign ministry, arrived at the Uhuru Park venue and was ushered to the main dais.

      Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir issued a decree on Tuesday that paves the way for a referendum on how the Darfur region should be governed, a move slammed by rebel groups who said it would torpedo the faltering peace talks."President Omar al-Bashir issued a decree today to conduct a referendum to determine the permanent administrative status of Darfur," Sudan's official SUNA news agency reported, without specifying when the plebiscite would be held.
