By Brian Nichols:Over the last five weeks I've written a weekly piece in which I purchase and sell stocks prior to earnings. After week one my balance was $19,500 but now after the most recent week my balance is $23,993, for a 24% overall gain. The series has had its ups and downs but overall the returns have been consistent and have significantly outperformed the S&P 500.Last week was suppose to be my final week of this quarter to purchase stocks prior to earnings. However, this upcoming week is filled with opportunity that is too good to pass up. There are also a number of companies announcing earnings the week of March 5 that I find attractive, therefore I may continue the series for one additional week. Following the last piece, this series will restart in early April with the balance from my last week of this earnings season. But beforeComplete Story »

    • 2 Stocks Likely To Present Significant Gains Following Earnings

By Brian Nichols:For the last six weeks I have written a weekly piece that suggests stocks worth buying prior to earnings. The series is progressive, meaning that my gains from the previous week reflect on the following week's starting balance. And over the last five weeks the plays have resulted in large gains of more than 25%.

    • Stocks Worth Buying Before Earnings: Feb 21 - 24

By Brian Nichols:It's safe to say that last week did not turn out the way I expected; with several stocks trading lower after beating expectations. One reason being a common trend that has occurred throughout this earnings season. During the last few weeks a large portion of stocks have run-up prior to earnings and then pull back after earnings are announced.

    • Stocks Worth Buying Before Earnings Week 3: January 30 - February 3

By Brian Nichols:Last week turned out great for returning gains, as 4/5 picks were correct, and the total return was more than 11%. In week 3 we will be starting with $21,592, and I am optimistic that this week will return a similar level of gains as week 2 with several fast growing companies announcing quarterly results.

    • 6 Stocks Worth Buying On This Week's Earnings Reports: Oct. 31-Nov. 4

By Brian Nichols:This week will be the third week of purchasing stocks before earnings with an initial investment of $50,000. Last week was much better than the first week, which only returned $798 on the $50,000 investment. And I believe this week will be much better than the last. The further we go into this earnings season, the more we can learn about how the market is reacting to the reports.

    • Choosing Stocks Prior To Earnings For Large Returns

By Brian Nichols:A couple weeks ago I wrote "The Art of Successfully Playing Earnings" following a significant amount of interest surrounding my weekly earning plays. The goal was to teach investors the "dos and don'ts" of playing earnings which include a variety of strategies.

    • Stocks Worth Buying Prior To Earnings In Q2 (Part One)

By Brian Nichols:Following a successful Q1 earnings season it is now time to turn our attention to Q2; and try to identify value in stocks that could rise following earnings. As Q2 earnings season begins there are still a number of small and mid-cap stocks that are presenting value, as a result of the market's rally being led by large cap stocks.

    • Stocks Worth Buying Before Earnings: Jan. 16-20

By Brian Nichols:Earnings season has officially begun, and it's my favorite time of the year. For about 4 months out of the year, I purchase stocks before earnings that I believe will exceed expectations and post large gains, based on previous performance and recent developments. Over the years I have used earnings as a way to return very large gains in short-term trades. Since the market has traded on fundamental progress over the last couple of weeks, I am very excited about the next four weeks.

    • Stocks Worth Buying Before Earnings: Week 3

By Brian Nichols:It is safe to say that in week two of this quarter's earnings season nothing went according to plan. Both of the stocks I held following week one barely traded higher; I had bought Apple (AAPL) at $600 believing it was a bargain for two weeks ahead of earnings, and all of my buys traded lower after earnings.

    • 6 Stocks Worth Buying Before Earnings: Nov.14 - 18

By Brian Nichols:Over the last four weeks, I have written several articles suggesting stocks to purchase before earnings that have a history of exceeding expectations. I am more optimistic about this upcoming week than any other week of earnings over the last month and a half. This week is filled with undervalued growth companies that are well positioned to post very large gains following their earnings reports.
