SpaceX may have big manufacturing plans for the Port of Los Angeles

By now, most retailers have become sensitive to media reports of labor abuses in their supply chains — but a new report from USA Today suggests that abuses occurring during the last leg of a product’s journey — from the port to the store — may have escaped attention.

Cargo at the biggest ports on the West Coast continues to move slowly due to near gridlock, in spite of federal authorities intervening and initiating mediation talks to help port workers and their employers reach a new contract. The Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) said that among the ports affected, the region’s five largest ports – including the massive Long Beach and Los Angeles ports – have seen “backups approaching complete gridlock.”

MUMBAI: The automotive world's most coveted market may finally see some made-in-India cars on its roads. Ford India's popular compact sport utility vehicle EcoSport may be shipped to the US for sale starting October 2017, multiple people familiar with the process said. Ford has already begun work on developing a face-lifted version of the SUV for the North American markets. It has also kicked off a preliminary tendering process to source components. The request for quotation put out by Ford is for as many as 90,000 units a year, which is more than the number of vehicles it sells in India.
