Romney Casts Off 47% of Voters Every other week or so, Romney seems to make a major gaff of some sort. His recent flip-flops on Obamacare are a case-in-point.

      On Sunday, I explained the economic, strategic and political problems with Mitt Romney's plan to impose countervailing duties on Chinese imports in order to pressure China into changing its currency policies.  Today, two news articles show that, only a week after its release, Romney's politically-motivated plan may already be backfiring.  The WSJ explains:

      Earlier this week, Martin Feldstein, a Romney campaign economic adviser and Harvard professor, published this op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, critiquing the Tax Policy Center’s viral (thanks to President Obama) analysis of the implied distributional effects of Mitt Romney’s self-proclaimed-revenue-neutral tax reform plan.  If you recall,

      Former US president Jimmy Carter met Fidel and Raul Castro in Cuba but failed to win the freedom of a jailed American contractor whose detention is straining ties.The seasoned negotiator met US State Department contractor Alan Gross, held since late 2009 and sentenced on state security charges this month to 15 years in prison, and called for the "innocent" man's release.And before leaving the island, Carter voiced hope on local television that US President Barack Obama would pardon five Cubans jailed in the United States for espionage.
