Quiznos revamps menu hoping to regain market share

NEW YORK — What’s in an inch? Apparently, enough missing meat, cheese and tomatoes to cause an uproar. Subway, the world’s largest fast food chain with 37,000 locations, is facing criticism after an Australian man posted a picture on the company’s Facebook page of one of its famous footlong sandwiches next to a tape measure that seems to show sub is just 11 inches.

Two New Jersey men sued Subway this week, claiming the world's biggest fast-food chain has been shorting them by selling so-called footlong sandwiches that measure a bit less than 12 inches.

Ask anyone which fast food chain reigns supreme and they’ll likely answer McDonald’s – hands down.

TORONTO • Subway Restaurants keeps growing steadily in Canada even though the fast-food sandwich purveyor has not followed rivals McDonald’s and Tim Hortons in appealing to coffee-loving Canadians. Company president and co-founder Fred DeLuca, who ventured north this week from Subway’s Connecticut headquarters for a meeting with Subway’s North American purchasing co-op and for store tours with Canadian franchisees, admits a “beverage strategy” is one thing the restaurant chain has yet to crack.
