Rebekah Brooks, a close confidante of Rupert Murdoch, was charged on Tuesday with interfering with a police investigation into a phone hacking scandal that has rocked the tycoon's empire and sent shockwaves through the British political establishment.

British police said Friday they are to set up a new team to investigate allegations of computer hacking arising from their probe into phone hacking at the defunct News of the World newspaper.Scotland Yard said some allegations that had been raised during its latest investigation, launched in January, into breach of privacy at the Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid were outside the remit of the current probe.
