Latin vote will count in US election

The debate over an immigration-reform bill has given us a glimpse into the emerging war within the Republican Party. On one side are those sensitive to the party's demographics problem, who support a compromise.

Virginia's Republican-controlled legislature is moving to drastically change the way in which the state's Electoral College votes are allocated.

Comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for immigrants who came here illegally will likely pass Congress this year with broad bipartisan majorities. It will look a lot like legislation that died in previous congresses.

Foot-in-mouth disease appears to be as least as important than the economy. Thanks to the former, as well as Mitt Romney's completely inept handling of independent voters, it will be extremely difficult if not impossible for Romney to win the presidential election in November.
