It Takes a Jailbreak: Cydia Community Releases iPad Text Edit Hack As a Working App

Disillusioned Apple customers have a bit of good news today. iOS 6.1, the latest operating system for the company's mobile devices, has been jailbroken. This is the first jailbreak that will work with your iPhone 5 and iPad Mini.

Some impressive numbers come our way from this tweet by iOS security researcher @pod2g – 14,051,500 Apple devices running iOS 6 have now been jailbroken.

Smartphone and tablet typists are being urged to abandon the qwerty keyboard layout for a new design it's claimed will make them more than a third faster. Researchers at the University of St Andrews have developed a keyboard for handheld touchscreens called KALQ that allows typing 34 per cent faster. It will be released as a free Android app.
