    Iraq twin bombings kill seven

    Twin bombings targeting Iraqi government offices in Ramadi Monday killed seven people and wounded dozens, in a first test for Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki since he assumed the security portfolio.Police said a car bomb exploded near the provincial headquarters in the heart of Ramadi city, 100 kilometres (60 miles) west of Baghdad, followed 15 minutes later by a suicide bombing which witnesses said occurred amid ambulances and rescue workers attending to victims of the first blast.

      A suicide bomber detonated a car packed with explosives in the centre of the western Iraqi city of Ramadi Sunday, killing eight people including six policemen, police and a doctor said.The blast occurred at around 10:00 am (0700 GMT) near the offices of the Anbar provincial government, and also left 35 people wounded, according to police Major Rahim Zabin and a doctor at Ramadi hospital."A suicide car bomb targeted a police checkpoint in the centre of the city, about 200 metres (yards) from the Anbar government offices," Zabin said.

      An Iraqi man arrested for alleged involvement in twin suicide bombings in Baghdad last week killed a police officer who was questioning him, the interior ministry said on Saturday."One of our police officers was killed by a suspect involved in Sunday's bombings," a ministry statement said, adding that the suspect himself was then shot dead by police. The incident occurred at 1:00 am on Friday (2200 GMT on Thursday).
