    Iran political prisoners end hunger strike

    A group of Iranian political prisoners ended a two-week hunger strike in Evin prison protesting against their treatment by jailors, an opposition website reported on Tuesday.The group said in a statement carried by the website of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi that they were ending the strike in response to calls by Mousavi and other opposition figures."We hope the Tehran prosecutor and other officials make good on their promises... and deal with offending wardens who have insulted the prisoners" they said in the statement dated August 9 on Kaleme.com.

They were kept in Evin prison or in a police station for 72 hours," the website reported. It gave no further details.

      Iran has arrested a top reformist from a banned political party which backed opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi in last year's presidential election, the ISNA news agency reported on Wednesday.Ali Shakouri-rat, a leader of the Islamic Iran Participation Front, was "arrested yesterday (Tuesday) night for security reasons," the news agency quoted Tehran prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi as saying.Shakouri-rat is known for his outspoken criticism of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's government.

    • Iran agents 'raid opposition leader's office'

      Iranian security agents have raided the office of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi, his website reported on Thursday, saying it was a move to stop him from highlighting the nation's economic woes."Last night, security agents raided the office of Mir Hossein Mousavi. They searched the premises and took some equipment" including computers, Kaleme.com said without giving the exact location of the office."With the attack by plainclothes security agents on the office of Mousavi, it seems that another phase of restrictions has started," it said.
