    India Markets Monday Wrap-Up: Range-Bound Trading Day

    Equitymaster submits: Although markets traded well above the dotted line throughout the day, trading remained largely range-bound. While the BSE Sensex closed higher by around 213 points (up 1%), the NSE Nifty gained around 64 points (up 1%). Midcap and smallcap stocks also did well as the BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap notched gains of 1% each. Barring IT stocks, buying was witnessed across sectors. As regards global markets, most Asian indices closed in the green today while European indices have also opened in the positive. While the BSE-Sensex closed higher by around 52 points (up 0.3%), the NSE-Nifty closed higher by around 23 points (up 0.4%).

While gains were seen across sectors, FMCG and IT stocks were at the receiving end.

Markets traded well above the dotted line throughout the day, with broad based gains. While the BSE Sensex closed higher by around 323 points (up 1.7%), the NSE Nifty gained around 100 points (up 1.7%). The BSE Midcap and the BSE Smallcap, were also trading strong with gains of around 1.7% and 1.2% respectively.

While the BSE Sensex closed higher by around 65 points (up 0.4%), the NSE Nifty gained around 13 points (up 0.3%). The BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap also notched gains of 0.5% and 0.3% respectively.

      Equitymaster submits: While the Indian markets traded well above the dotted line for the larger part of the day, selling activity across index heavyweights intensified in the final trading hours to pare most of the gains that were made. While the BSE Sensex closed higher by around 24 points (up 0.2%), the NSE Nifty gained around 13 points (up 0.3%). While the BSE Midcap ended flat, the Smallcap index notched gains of 1%.

    • India Markets Wednesday Wrap-Up: Gains Ease During Final Two Hours

      Equitymaster submits: Although ending well above the dotted line, the Indian markets shed a portion of their afternoon session gains during the final two hours of trade. The overall market breadth however remained negative as the number of losers outnumbered the gainers by a ratio of 1.3 to 1 on the BSE. While the BSE Sensex closed higher by around 110 points (up 0.6%), the NSE Nifty gained around 35 points (or 0.7%).
