Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg appeared on "60 Minutes" tonight to explain her controversial views on women in the workplace.

In a sea of blue and black, Sheryl Sandberg, a vivacious brunette in an orange jacket, stood out. Intense, engaged, gesturing for emphasis, Facebook’s chief operating officer and one of the most influential women in global business was intent on getting her message across. “We know the childbearing years are a challenge for women, [for companies] to keep them, we know that,” Ms. Sandberg, 43, said.

Statistics show a grim future for females looking to stay on top at America's most successful companies. Although past generations may have envisioned 2013 as a better and brighter future for women, figures reveal that women in the workplace are still living in the shadow of their male counterparts.
