How Obama made decision

DALLAS — Former first lady Laura Bush wants to be removed from a pro-gay marriage group’s national advertising campaign featuring prominent people speaking on the topic. The Respect for Marriage Coalition responded that it would start a new ad this weekend. The group, made up of more than 80 organizations supporting the freedom of gays to marry, said Thursday that it appreciated Bush’s previous comments but was “sorry she didn’t want to be included in an ad.”

Yesterday, when we reported that as a result of new disclosures regarding the timing of who learned what, but most importantly when, in the White House regarding the IRS persecution (if not prosecution) of conservative groups, we made it quite clear that the narrative enacted by the White House, which could simply be summarized as "we'll make it up as we go along", was nothing more than damage control in total disarray.

The record levels of support for gay marriage have been ignited by more Americans than ever saying they know a family member or close friend who is gay, according to a new CNN/ORC poll released Monday.

Former U.S. secretary of state Hillary Clinton officially came out Monday in support of gay marriage, her short video statement viewed by many as a strategic move ahead of the next presidential race in 2016. In the six-minute video, released by the Human Rights Campaign‘s arm in support of marriage equality, Ms. Clinton says that gays and lesbians are “full and equal citizens and deserve the rights of citizenship.”

Since his personal endorsement of gay marriage last spring, President Barack Obama has kept up the public support, even making a historic mention of gay rights in his inaugural address last month. 

A lot of commentators are beginning to call for President Obama to take charge of health care directly.
