    German exports rockets ahead: official data

    German exports shot up by the biggest amount for 10 years in May, the national statistics office said Thursday, as the euro's fall in value and a global rebound boosted Europe's biggest economy.Merchandise shipped abroad by the world's second-biggest exporter after China climbed by 28.8 percent to 77.5 billion euros (98 billion dollars), the largest annual increase since May 2000, the Destatis office said.It was also the highest level since October 2008, just after the collapse of US investment bank Lehman Brothers sent the global economy into a tailspin.
