Young Canadians face more challenges when it comes to buying their first home than their Baby Boomer parents did in decades past, a new poll from TD Canada Trust suggests. Steeper down payments, higher property prices, heavy student debt loads and an inability to afford monthly mortgage payments are among the top obstacles facing Millenials, or Generation Y, looking to own a home, according to the poll.

The rapid evolution of retirement in America shows no signs of slowing. The World War II generation (or The Greatest Generation) often lived in the same house until they either died or were moved to a nursing home, but this is now far less common. 

Time was when retirement meant a move to a community where all your neighbors belonged to the same generation: Old. No more. As baby boomers begin to retire, they're going their own way -- or ways -- when it comes to housing choices and relocation strategies.

For the past 30 years my company has been involved in creating over 2,500 different performance-based job descriptions that define the actual work a person needs to do to be considered successful. Based on preparing these performance-based job descriptions for jobs like camp counselor at the YMCA, accountants and engineers from staff to VPs, mid- and senior-level executives in industries ranging from automotive and aerospace to construction and consumer products, I can conclude that there are only four different jobs in the whole world.

By David Zanoni:With many of the baby boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964) starting to retire, it would be wise to pick an investment or two that would benefit from this demographic. Beginning this past January, about 10,000 baby boomers will turn 65 each day – that means there are about 3.65 million potential retirees every year for the next 17 years.

Our modern world has bred a generation of inactive, fat and sick baby boomers, a new report from the Journal of the American Medical Association suggests, even though modern medicine has made great strides.

It seems the baby boomers in America share at least one trait with baby boomers in Australia: obesity. A study recently released in the country "down under" reveals that baby boomers there also have a high rate of obesity and being overweight and the same risks for developing chronic diseases that will impact them now and in the future.
