    European stocks open with losses

    Europe's main stock markets fell at the start of trading on Tuesday, with investor focus stuck firmly on the fallout from Greece's weekend elections.Frankfurt's DAX 30 slipped 0.32 percent to 6,548.74 points and in Paris the CAC 40 shed 0.75 percent to 3,190.18 points.London's FTSE 100 index, which was trading for the first time this week after a long holiday weekend in Britain, dipped 0.04 percent to 5,652.84 points compared with Friday's closing level.

      European stock markets rose and the euro slipped against the dollar Friday ahead of crucial weekend elections in Greece and after Britain unveiled fresh stimulus measures, boosting bank shares.Approaching midday in London the FTSE 100 index of leading companies was up 0.44 percent at 5,491.01 points, Frankfurt's DAX 30 climbed 0.84 percent to 6,190.64 points and in Paris the CAC 40 won 1.38 percent to 3,074.34.Madrid's IBEX 35 jumped 1.10 percent.

      Europe's main stock markets slipped in opening deals on Monday, with London's FTSE 100 benchmark index of leading shares down 0.47 percent at 5,937.51 at 10:24 am.In Paris the CAC 40 dipped 0.37 percent to 3,581.48 points and Frankfurt's DAX 30 shed 0.19 percent to stand at 7,143.93 points.Asian shares were mostly higher Monday on the back of lingering optimism over the recovery in the global economy but the advances were tempered by US data that came in below expectations.

      Europe's main stock markets dropped by more than one percent in early trading on Friday, building on sharp losses suffered a day earlier caused by worries about the threat of a debt default from Dubai.London's benchmark FTSE 100 index fell 1.06 percent to 5,152.86 points shortly after the start of European trading.Frankfurt's DAX 30 shed 1.32 percent to 5,540.34 points and in Paris the CAC 40 lost 1.08 percent to 3,639.66.
