    Europe's main stock markets dipped at the start of trading on Thursday, as investors continued to fret over the global economic outlook, dealers said.London's benchmark FTSE 100 index slid 0.26 percent to 5,231.75 points, Frankfurt's DAX 30 sank 0.20 percent to 6,141.90 points and in Paris the CAC 40 index shed 0.46 percent to 3,611.46.

      Europe's main stock markets slid on Monday, as investors took profits from pre-weekend gains, and miners and energy groups were hit by lower commodity prices, dealers said.In midday deals, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index was down 0.61 percent at 5,290.17 points.Frankfurt's DAX 30 dropped 0.60 percent to 5,783.01 points and in Paris the CAC 40 shed 0.44 percent to 3,829.64 near the half-way stage.The DJ Euro Stoxx 50 index of top eurozone shares declined 0.56 percent to 2,894.09 points.

      Europe's main stock markets and the euro slid on Thursday following unexpectedly weak eurozone economic data and disappointing Chinese figures, analysts said.London's FTSE 100 benchmark index of leading shares dropped 0.91 percent to 5,838.01 points approaching midday in the British capital.Frankfurt's DAX 30 slumped 1.46 percent to 6,968.40 points and in Paris the CAC 40 shed 1.66 percent to 3,468.73.The euro dropped to $1.3157 from $1.3213 late in New York on Wednesday.

      European stock markets fell sharply on Tuesday, the first day of trading after a four-day holiday weekend, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of top companies dropping 2.24 percent to 5,595.55 points.In Frankfurt, the DAX 30 lost 2.49 percent to 6,606.43 points, in Paris the CAC 40 fell 3.08 percent to 3,217.60 points and in Milan, the FTSE Mib index slid 4.98 percent as bank shares plunged.

      European stocks fell while the euro rose on Wednesday after Slovakia voted to block expansion of a key eurozone bailout fund, although the country was expected to eventually offer its backing.Markets also digested disappointing results from aluminium producer Alcoa, which kicked off the US earnings season overnight.In early European trade, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index fell 0.51 percent to 5,368.47 points, Frankfurt's DAX 30 dropped 0.84 percent to 5,816.80 points and in Paris the CAC 40 slid 0.55 percent to 3,135.63.

      Europe's main stock markets fell on Thursday, with London dragged down by a drop in British retail sales, dealers said.London's FTSE 100 index of top shares was down 0.25 percent at 5,541.74 points in midday trade.Frankfurt's DAX 30 dipped 0.06 percent to 6,258.13 points and in Paris the CAC 40 index shed 0.32 percent to 3,743.63.The Stoxx 50 index of leading eurozone companies dropped 0.10 percent to 2,791.65 points.

    • European stocks fall sharply at open

      Europe's main stock markets dived in opening trade on Thursday, as investors fretted over the Greek financial crisis and its potential impact on the eurozone and the European single currency.In opening trade, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of top shares dived 1.27 percent to 5,274.03 points, as Britons headed to the polls in a general election.Elsewhere, the Paris the CAC 40 tumbled 1.44 percent to 3,583.75 points and Frankfurt's DAX 30 shed 0.64 percent to 5,958.45.
