    Euro stocks slump, euro hits four-month dollar low

    Europe's main stock markets tumbled Thursday and the euro hit a new four-month dollar low as worries spiked over the eurozone debt crisis that is plaguing Greece and now circling Spain.In afternoon deals, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index dropped 0.92 percent to 5,355.57 points and Frankfurt's DAX 30 slid 0.45 percent to 6,355.84 points.In Paris, the CAC 40 shed 0.92 percent to 3,020.55, while Milan's FTSE Mib tumbled 1.44 percent and Madrid's IBEX 35 slumped 1.39 percent.

      European stock markets dived on Monday as the banking sector slumped on concerns over exposure to Greece, after a eurozone meeting failed to resolve the nation's debt crisis, dealers said.In mid-day trading, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of top shares slid 0.78 percent to 5,670.57 points, Frankfurt's DAX 30 sank 1.11 percent to 7,084.71 points and in Paris the CAC 40 index shed 1.23 percent 3,776.52.Milan's MIB index tumbled 2.61 percent to 19,572.42 points after Moody's issued a warning about Italy's credit rating, sparking concern about contagion effects from Greece.

      European stocks slid and the euro fell against the dollar on Monday before a major EU summit this week that analysts said was unlikely to deliver concrete steps to extinguish eurozone debt fires.London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of leading shares was down 0.60 percent at 5,480.60 points in late morning deals.Frankfurt's DAX 30 slid 1.57 percent to 6,164.81 points and in Paris the CAC 40 shed 1.63 percent to 3,040.69.Madrid's IBEX 35 index tumbled 2.50 percent to 6,704.50 points.

      European stock markets and the euro slid on Thursday with traders waiting to see if EU leaders will deliver concrete steps to tackle the eurozone's spreading debt crisis.London's benchmark FTSE 100 index shed 0.56 percent to 5,493.06 points, with bank stocks hurt by an interest rate fixing scandal.In Frankfurt, the DAX 30 tumbled 1.27 percent to 6,149.91 points and in Paris the CAC 40 slid 0.37 percent to 3,051.68 points.Milan rose by 0.67 percent, however, and Madrid gained 0.82 percent as lawmakers passed a 2012 austerity budget.

      European stock markets and the euro slumped in early deals Tuesday on growing fears that the eurozone debt crisis will spread despite fresh measures aimed at preventing contagion, traders said.London's FTSE 100 index shed 1.90 percent to 5,816.57 points, also following heavy losses across Asia and overnight on Wall Street.Frankfurt's DAX 30 dived 2.69 percent to 7,038.96 points and in Paris the CAC 40 slid 2.36 percent to 3,717.70 points. The Milan exchange dived more than 4.0 percent and Madrid lost 3.75 percent, with indices pulled lower by sinking bank shares.

      European stock markets mostly rose and the euro rallied against the dollar on Thursday after a successful Spanish bond auction that eased tensions over the eurozone debt crisis, traders said.In late morning deals London's FTSE 100 index climbed 0.40 percent to 5,768.24 points, Frankfurt's DAX 30 gained 0.35 percent to 6,754.80 and in Paris the CAC 40 won 0.49 percent to 3,256.19.However, Madrid's benchmark IBEX 35 retreated 0.48 percent to 7,044.70 points.In foreign exchange trade, the euro rose to $1.3135 from $1.3120 late in New York on Wednesday.

      European stocks markets fell on Friday, a day after surging, and the euro dipped against the dollar as traders expressed caution over an EU deal to solve the eurozone debt crisis.London's benchmark FTSE 100 index dropped 0.32 percent to 5,695.78 points in midday deals, Frankfurt's DAX 30 eased 0.13 percent to 6,330.33 points and in Paris the CAC 40 shed 0.30 percent to 3,358.10.

      European equities fell further on Wednesday, extending recent heavy losses amid mounting anxiety about government debt in Dubai and Greece, and ahead of a key budget statement in London, dealers said.In late morning deals, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index lost 0.17 percent to stand at 5,214.60 points.Frankfurt's DAX 30 slid 0.37 percent to 5,668.30 points and in Paris the CAC 40 shed 0.25 percent to 3,775.68.The DJ Euro Stoxx 50 index of top eurozone shares dipped 0.38 percent to 2,838.48 points.
