    Economic Calendar: China, CPI, Industrial Production

    Here's the economic calendar for the week commencing 12 April 2010.The big data out this week is the China update. China puts out basically all its key stats in one week (GDP, CPI, industrial production, retail sales, etc). There's also industrial production figures out from the US, EU, and Japan, so it will be an interesting week in terms of the manufacturing sector. There's also key inflation updates with CPI due from the US and EU.Complete Story »

      Econ Grapher submits:Here's the Economic Calendar for the week commencing the 8th of May 2011. This week features China's monthly economic data release with PPI, CPI, industrial production, retail sales, fixed asset investment, and international trade stats due out from the world's second largest economy. Elsewhere there is an emphasis on inflation data with CPI due from Germany, France, Switzerland, and the US, there's also PPI data due from those countries.

The U.S. has housing starts, building permits, and existing home sales data due this week. Elsewhere there's retail sales figures due from the U.K.

This week some key inflation data are due out from the EU and US, with both economies set to release their CPI reports, and the US and UK also set to release producer prices. Also due are industrial production stats from France, Italy, the EU, UK, and US - the US also has capacity utilisation, University of Michigan confidence, and its trade balance data due (oh and China just released its trade stats).

Elsewhere there's new loans and money supply data from China, and Industrial production figures from the EU, Japan, and US.

    • Key Events And Issues In The Week Ahead

      The week ahead brings key leading indicators of global activity. The flash PMI's in China and Euro area will be published on Tuesday. Bloomberg consensus expects the China flash to be slightly lower than the previous reading and that the Euro area flash releases for manufacturing and service activity will rise slightly. In addition, Korean 20-day export data for April will provide a good guide to both the external sector in Korea and the likely momentum of Asian exports more broadly. For the same reasons, Taiwan export orders are worth a look as well.

      It's a quiet week in macro, but that doesn't mean there is nothing going on. Here is a summary of the key events happening in the coming week via GS and SocGen.

Then on the monetary policy front there's Japan, and the US who both meet to review policy this week.

This week is a China week, there's the monthly trade data for October, and the usual suite of CPI, retail sales, industrial production, fixed asset investment, and property prices. Other than that, the big ones will be EU Q3 GDP, trade balances and industrial production data from a few countries, and the G-20 Summit in Seoul. (More commentary follows the table)
