    Direxion Adds Materials, Healthcare and Total Market ETFs to Lineup

    Ron Rowland submits:Direxion announced the addition of five new ETFs to its lineup last week (6/15/11). Four of the new funds are 3x leveraged bullish and bearish plays on the materials and health sectors. The fifth is a non-leveraged total U.S. stock market bear fund. Direxion Daily Basic Materials Bull 3x Shares (MATL) seeks daily investment results of 300% of the price performance of the S&P Materials Select Sector Index with a 0.95% expense ratio. Their shares will be de-listed from NYSE Arca as of the close on September 5, 2012, with the liquidation process to be completed a week later.

      Ron Rowland submits:Direxion, the firm that popularized 3x leveraged funds, launched its first inverse ETFs that do not employ leverage on March 23.

    • Direxion Unveils 3x Agribusiness, Russia ETFs

      Ron Rowland submits:Direxion rolled out four new ETFs yesterday (5/25/11) providing +3x and -3x leveraged exposure to existing ETF offerings from Van Eck Market Vectors. This is not the first time Direxion has taken this path, having added leverage to the Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (GDX) last December.

      Tom Lydon submits: Direxion has introduced four new 300% leveraged exchange traded funds that boost its sector lineup, and let investors take bullish and bearish positions on healthcare and basic materials. The asset manager has also listed an ETF that bets against the total U.S. stock market. The firm’s latest funds are focused on sectors that are attracting assets or that have heavy trading volume.

      Ron Rowland submits:Direxion changed the ticker symbols for its pair of China 3x ETFs effective June 15. As mentioned in my recent ETF Stats report, Invesco PowerShares changed the name, ticker, underlying index and expense ratio for seven of its style-box ETFs effective June 16, 2011.

The Direxion Daily 2-Year Treasury Bull 3x Shares (TWOL) seeks 300% of the daily performance of the NYSE Arca Current 2-Year U.S. Treasury Index, a benchmark that consists of the most recently issued 2-year U.S. Treasury notes.
