    • ‘We want our clothes back’: Police demand released Burmese prisoner return uniform after 20 years in jail

      In 2008, Burma’s longest imprisoned political prisoner was about to be released. But Win Tin, who served 20 years in jail, 19 of them in solitary confinement, refused to hand over his blue shirt, part of the prison uniform. He would wear the shirt, he told the jail’s governor, in solidarity with the other prisoners and if it was taken off him he would go out naked. Win Tin was allowed to keep the shirt.
