    By PowerOptions:One would be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't recognize the illuminated golden arches of a McDonalds' sign (MCD). With restaurants operating in over 120 countries, each having menus specially tailored to the taste of the local consumers, it is no mystery why the McDonald's brand has become universally known and ranks supreme over other fast food companies like Burger King (BKC), Wendy's (WEN), and Yum Brands (YUM) which owns Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC. While a company's notoriety does not necessarily signify a profitable investment, McDonalds has managed to see positive quarterly results despite the current economy.In the most recent Q4 2011 earnings call, the company indicated the global economy remains challenging with a recovery predicted to be slow and prolonged.
