    BBC News, Al Jazeera take online journalism honors

    BBC News, Al Jazeera and The Los Angeles Times scooped up the top prizes as the Online News Association (ONA) handed out its annual awards on Saturday.Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail, Argentina's La Nacion, France's OWNI and Germany's Zeit Online were also among those recognized by the ONA for their digital journalism efforts.BBC News took the award for general excellence in online journalism by a large site while The Globe and Mail won the award for a medium site.

      US hip-hop band the Black Eyed Peas were mistakenly declared best international group at France's top music awards before the prize was given to the real winners, the German band Tokio Hotel.Choreographer Kamel Ouali, who was presenting the prizes late Saturday at the NRJ Awards in Cannes, told the audience the US band had won but a few minutes later returned to the stage to say he had made a mistake.Last year Katy Perry was mistakenly given the trophy for best international song when it should have gone to Rihanna.

      Photographers from Agence France-Presse were Saturday awarded the top news and feature prizes at the prestigious Asian Human Rights Awards for outstanding coverage of riots in China's Xinjiang region and acid attack victims in Pakistan.Beijing-based Peter Parks won the main award in the news category for dramatic images of the aftermath of deadly unrest in the northwestern Chinese region of Xinjiang in July last year.
