Vacation home rental service HomeAway has just submitted its S-1 filing with the SEC, indicating that it will file for a public offering in the next few months. The maximum proposed total offering price is $230 million but this could be just a placeholder amount.
Startup peer-to-peer car sharing service RelayRides has acquired Wheelz, a smaller competitor, it announced early Tuesday morning. The acquisition is a sign of RelayRides' impressive growth since it launched in June 2010. After it became available nationwide last year, membership has climbed 500%.
It's a long time since Shazam was just that useful app to identify (or "tag") music playing in the real world. In 2013, the company has a burgeoning business based around people tagging TV shows and adverts too.
