    Air Lease buys 8 Boeing 787s for Vietnam Airlines

    US aircraft leasing giant Air Lease said Monday it has bought eight new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft to lease to Vietnam Airlines.Financial details of the purchase were not revealed. The catalog value of the planes is $1.8 billion."Deliveries of the eight 787-9 'Dreamliner' aircraft are scheduled for 2017 and 2018. This transaction marks ALC's longest lead time for a lease placement to date," Air Lease Corporation said in a statement.

      LONDON – Boeing told two European airlines on Friday their deliveries of 787 Dreamliner jets would be delayed, as investigations into the problems behind the grounded aircraft continue. Thomson Airways, owned by Britain’s TUI Travel told Reuters delivery of its first Dreamliner, originally scheduled for the end of February, had been “moved out of the month” and it had not been given a new delivery date.
