    Activists granted extension to save Hollywood sign

    Activists bidding to raise 12.5 million dollars to prevent Los Angeles's iconic Hollywood sign from development have been granted 16 more days to come up with the cash, it was announced Wednesday.A non-profit group organizing the campaign to buy 138 acres of rugged hillside surrounding the landmark has so far managed to raise only 11 million dollars, just short of the required amount, officials said.However the Chicago-based investors who own the land have extended an April 14 until April 30.
